Establishing Category Leadership

In January 2016, we were brought on board to replace a previous agency. The charter was to scale communications alongside massive company growth, while working to define and dominate a new category: Continuous Intelligence. We collaborated closely with internal marketing and executive stakeholders on strategic company initiatives including the launch of the first user conference, Illuminate, and awareness-building, category education and company momentum during a period of phenomenal growth.

Results

In the first six months, press coverage increased 100%, with a 60% total increase in media awareness. Our team worked alongside Sumo Logic from $7M to over $200M in revenues, and from 150 to more than 1000 employees, and most importantly, we helped establish a clear leadership position in the Continuous Intelligence category. Fast forward to 2020 on the road to IPO, and our media strategy centered around the category’s role in digital transformation. In September 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, our work on Sumo Logic’s IPO resulted in 370 pieces of coverage and 25 broadcast hits.
